How to delete your account

Last updated: September 19, 2026

You can delete your RealSpace account yourself, at any time, without asking us. This page explains where the button is, what deleting actually removes, and what we keep. You don't need to be signed in to read it.

01Deleting on the website

This is the way that works today, from any browser, on a phone or a computer:

  1. Sign in at realspacemobile.com with the account you want to delete.
  2. Open your account page.
  3. Scroll to Your data, and then to Delete account at the bottom of it.
  4. Enter your password. Leave it blank if you sign in with Google or Apple and have never set one — see Section 3.
  5. Type DELETE in the confirmation box and press Delete my account.

That's the whole process. Nothing is queued for review and nobody at RealSpace has to approve it.

Before you delete, you can take a copy of everything tied to the account — squares, transactions, models, comments, reactions, follows, badges and sequences — with Export my data, just above the delete section on the same page. Once the account is deleted we can't produce that export for you.

02Deleting from the app

You can delete your account from inside the app, without a browser:

  1. Open your profile.
  2. Tap Delete account, underneath Sign out.
  3. Enter your password. Leave it blank if you signed in with Google or Apple and never set one — see Section 3.
  4. Type DELETE and tap Delete my account.

It is the same account either way: deleting it in the app deletes it on the website too, and the other way round. If you've already uninstalled the app, use the website route in Section 1 instead.

Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. It removes the app and nothing else; the account, the squares and everything on it stay as they are until the account itself is deleted.

03If you signed in with Google or Apple

Accounts created with Google or Apple sign-in have no RealSpace password, and none is needed. Leave the password box empty and delete as above: being signed in is the confirmation, the same as it is for everything else you do on the account.

If you set a RealSpace password at some point as well, that password is required. If you've forgotten it, use Forgot password on the sign-in page to set a new one, then delete the account.

Deleting your RealSpace account has no effect on your Google or Apple account. It only removes the link between them.

04What deleting removes

WhatWhat happens to it
Squares you claimedReleased back into the unclaimed pool, so anyone can claim them again. They aren't held in reserve for you and they aren't deleted from the map.
3D models and soundsPermanently deleted, including the uploaded files themselves.
Comments, reactions, favouritesPermanently deleted.
Follows and blocksPermanently deleted, in both directions — the people you followed and the people who followed you.
Sequences and badgesPermanently deleted.
Reports you filedPermanently deleted.
Your token balanceGone with the account. Deleting is not a refund; tokens have no cash value and can't be moved to another account.
Storage plans and leasesCancelled straight away, with no further charges and no refund for the rest of the month already paid for. A leased space's squares are released the same way claimed squares are. A storage plan bought in the app, through the App Store or Google Play, can't be cancelled by deleting your account — Apple or Google bills it, so cancel it in your store account's subscriptions first.
Models from the storeThe record of which you got goes with the account. Models you shared in the store leave it; anyone who already has one keeps it, credited to "a former member".
Your email address and nameRemoved from the account record, along with your password and any Google or Apple sign-in link. The email address is freed up, so you can use it again for a new account later.
Signed-in devicesAll signed out, and any pending password-reset or email-verification links stop working.
If a payment for a storage plan or lease can't be cancelled at the moment you press delete — for example because our payment processor is unreachable — nothing is deleted and you're asked to try again. That is deliberate: an account that has been deleted while a subscription carries on charging a card would be the worse outcome.

05What we keep, and why

Two things survive deletion, and it's worth being plain about both.

The record of what was bought and spent. Token purchases, refunds, what tokens were spent on, and storage-plan and lease payments are kept after the account is deleted, the same way a bank keeps transaction records after an account closes. This is a financial record we're required to be able to produce; it isn't linked back to any of your deleted content, and the account it points at no longer carries your name or email address.

The account row itself, emptied out. Rather than removing the row, we blank it: email, name, password and sign-in links are cleared and it's marked deleted. That's what lets the purchase records above still add up without keeping anything identifying about you.

Beyond those, copies may persist briefly in routine backups and where the law requires us to keep them — see section 5 of our Terms of Service. Our Privacy Policy covers retention in full.

06How long it takes

Immediately. The account is deleted as part of the request you make on the page — by the time it tells you the account is deleted, it is. Your squares are back in the pool at that moment and your uploaded files are removed from storage straight after.

There is no waiting period, no confirmation email to click, and no window in which to change your mind. That is why the page asks for your password and for the word DELETE first.

07If you can't sign in

If you've lost access to the account and can't sign in to delete it yourself, email privacy@realspacemobile.com from the address the account uses and ask for it to be deleted. Tell us the email address on the account; we'll ask you to confirm from that address before deleting anything, because a deletion request we can't verify is a way to delete somebody else's account.

This address is a placeholder pending a real support inbox — see the release-readiness checklist item for standing one up before this page goes live.
